Hello. My name is, of course, Michael P. Smuda. I was born in 1947 in Camden, New Jersey. Being part of a military family, I didn't stay there long. In fact, throughout my youth, we didn't stay anywhere long. I was a Senior Software Analsyt (systems programmer) for the Alameda County Information Technology Department in Oakland, California, and worked for the county from January 1973 through March 2009. I have an AA in Liberal Arts from Chabot College and a BS in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude, from California State University, Hayward which has now changed its name to California State University, East Bay.
My family consists of my wife, Diane (nee Rita Diane Jacobs), and four children, Kathleen (Katie, 1975), Jennifer (Jen, 1978), Scott (1982) and Dana (1984). The whole family lives in Woodland, California in Yolo County. Diane and I celebrated our 35th anniversary in 2008. Katie is married to Cameron Fuller. They are the parents of Collin(1998) and Kalysta Rose (2009). The Fullers moved from Concord, California, to Woodland. Jennifer is married to Steve Cotter (2005) and Dana is married to Matt Schulte (2008.
My father was A. C. Smuda, a psychiatrist primarily in Uniformed Services (Army, VA and Public Health Service). My mother was Jane Francis (Reed, nee Julia Veronica Brandon), a nurse and teacher. One sister is Patricia Schaefer of Peoria, Arizona. Also in Arizona is my sister Theresa (Terri), a teacher (retired) in Tempe. My brother David is deceased with his family mostly living in eastern USA, his wife Carol, recently died in Maryland. His daughter Deborah Williams with her husband Tom and daughters Emily, Natalie and Maddie live in Pennsylvania. David and Carol's son David II is now living in North Carolina with his wife Sue and their four children. My brother Alan and his wife Joyce are also living in Woodland, California.
